Wouldn't you love to be wise?
If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives
generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. But let him ask
in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea
that is driven and tossed by he wind. For that person must not suppose that he
will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all
his ways. ~James 1:5-8
God will gladly and abundantly give us wisdom, if only we ask in faith. Isn't that amazing? We are in desperate need of wisdom. We, as individuals and as a nation, are continually making wrong choices, or are confused as to what to do. We struggle through life, stubbornly trying to make it on our own. But God is always there; watching, waiting, offering. Never tiring or wavering. He is always by our side, always holding out His hand. Why don't we take hold of it?
If any of you lacks wisdom (which we all do), let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. That's a promise. A promise that we can depend on.
Thank you God.
“But where can wisdom be found?
And where is the place of understanding?
“Man does not know its value,
Nor is it found in the land of the living.
“The deep says, ‘It is not in me’;
And the sea says, ‘It is not with me.’
“Pure gold cannot be given in exchange for it,
Nor can silver be weighed as its price.

“It cannot be valued in the gold of Ophir,
In precious onyx, or sapphire.
“Gold or glass cannot equal it,
Nor can it be exchanged for articles of fine gold.
“Coral and crystal are not to be mentioned;
And the acquisition of wisdom is above that of pearls.
“The topaz ofEthiopia cannot equal it,
Nor can it be valued in pure gold.
“Where then does wisdom come from?
And where is the place of understanding?
“Thus it is hidden from the eyes of all living
And concealed from the birds of the sky.

‘With our ears we have heard a report of it.’

“God understands its way,
And He knows its place.
“For He looks to the ends of the earth
And sees everything under the heavens.
“When He imparted weight to the wind
And meted out the waters by measure,
When He set a limit for the rain
And a course for the thunderbolt,
Then He saw it and declared it;
He established it and also searched it out.
“And to man He said, ‘Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom;
And to depart from evil is understanding.’”
And He knows its place.

Amen!! This is SO GOOD!
ReplyDeleteDear Mariah,
ReplyDeleteI love the way you laid out this text. It makes it more clear and powerful to read it this way. You are right that only God is wise. In our foolishness, we humans think we can figure out the mess the world is in, and solve the problems of the human condition. The state the the world is witness to where our limited understanding leads. I am so thankful to see you seeking true wisdom. God bless you in your journey.
